Gallery KH GE
Geneva
2001-2002
This art gallery, located on the left shores of Lake Geneva in the city’s historical centre, is composed of two rooms, one very long and narrow and a smaller one at a somewhat higher level. Our client wanted the architecture to dissolve into the background, allowing for the unhindered viewing of the artwork. As a result, a greater part of the budget was reserved for the lighting concept and high-quality lighting fixtures. In addition, the whole space was bathed in museum white: not only the walls, but also the monolithic epoxy resin floor and the sculptural furniture piece specially designed for the gallery. This piece mitigates the threshold between the two rooms, discretely and elegantly leading visitors to the upper exhibition space while simultaneously serving as a desk, bench, as well as display and storage space for catalogues and brochures.
