Gallery KH ZH
Zurich
2002-2003
The gallery redesigned and furnished for Kashya Hildebrand, consisting of three rooms, was kept entirely in white. Similar to the New York design, mobile walls were developed to provide large display surfaces while allowing a high degree of flexibility for various exhibition configurations. At the center of the 4-meter-high space stand two voluminous wooden elements. The first box encloses the two existing concrete columns. The second box, identical in size, is movable and can extend, double, or be positioned independently of the fixed box. As a contrast to the strict geometry of the space, a free-form reception desk was designed. Its supporting structure is made of MDF panels spray-coated in white and wrapped in seamless Japanese paper. The semi-transparent skin can be illuminated from within, turning the desk into a glowing element.
