Gallery KH NY
New York
2002-2003
This is the third gallery space we renovated and designed for Galerie Kashya Hildebrand. Similar to the New York design, mobile walls provide generous wall space while simultaneously allowing for a number of different exhibition constellations. In the centre of the four-meter-high gallery space are two wide wooden boxes. The first hides the two existing concrete columns and the second identically dimensioned box can be moved to lengthen or double the fixed one, or can be placed independently in the gallery. A free-form reception desk contrasts the strong, regular geometry of the space. Supported by MDF boards, it is covered with Japanese paper. The translucent skin may be lit up from the inside, transforming the whole desk into a lighting element for the space.
