House Seesicht
Richterswil
2007-2008
Built in 1973, the single-family house enjoys an unobstructed view of Lake Zurich thanks to its hillside location. The interior renovation aimed to carefully modernize the building while meeting the lifestyle of the new owners – passionate art collectors and dedicated hosts.
The original architectural language was preserved: the distinctive 1970s design, with its pavilion-like roof structure, was restored through selective deconstruction. Old and new now merge into a coherent whole.
The main floor unfolds as a spatial topography of floors and ceilings. Polished hard concrete was poured monolithically to form the flooring, fireplace, seating niche, and kitchen elements. The ceiling, uniformly coated with a mineral finish, provides a restrained counterpart with integrated lighting, ventilation, and chimney – reduced, precise, and atmospheric.
