Forest and Wood – Value Creation Networks

Conference of the Advisory Board for the Federal Office for the Environment’s Wood Action Plan (BAFU) | 07.06.2024

As part of the meeting of the Advisory Group for the Federal Office for the Environment’s (FOEN) Aktionsplan Holz APH (Wood Action Plan), Celina Martinez-Cañavate presented insights on value creation networks in timber construction.

The fourth event focused on the theme “Forest and Wood – Value Chains in the Thal Nature Park” and addressed the key question: What is needed for a well-functioning wood value chain in Switzerland? Under the motto “The Wood Action Plan becomes concrete!”, participants visited a successful regional example in the morning: the Holzweg Thal and the organization “Holzhandwerk Thal”. In the afternoon, interactive discussions under the title “Scale-up regional-national” explored how the institutions represented in the advisory group can contribute to strengthening the wood value chain.

The Aktionsplan Holz APH (Wood Action Plan) is a key instrument for implementing the federal government’s resource policy on wood. It supports innovative projects that promote the use of Swiss wood. The advisory group, which includes representatives from forestry, the wood and energy sectors, environmental and nature conservation, real estate, and communications, provides strategic guidance and meets once a year for networking and exchange.
