Insights – «Natur-Werk-Stein II»
Schweizer Baumuster-Centrale | Zurich | 05.09.2024
Natural stone is currently quarried in 77 Swiss quarries: Gneisses, granites, quartzites, marbles, sandstones, limestones, siliceous limestones. This great diversity prompted architect friends Jürg Hauenstein, Paolo Kölliker and Manuel Scholl to continue their exhibition on Swiss natural stone quarries, which was shown at the SBCZ in 2023. With subtle drawings and powerful photographs, they portray 12 more quarries.
At the vernissage, the expert discussion focussed on the topic of sustainability: The example of the family business Truffer AG from Vals was used to show in concrete terms what ecological measures can be taken along the entire value chain, from extraction to the processed end product. The discussion between the two quarry operators Pia Truffer and Jan Müller and the architect Marc Angélil was moderated by the architect Thomas Hildebrand.
