Regensdorf

2019

On the Zwhatt-Development in Regensdorf, the limits of innovative affordable housing designs are to be explored.

The Swiss average living space is around 50 m². This is very high for affordable housing. This project has enabled us to think about a residential building in which we have determined the average living space per person to 25 m². There are two units: The STUDIO with 25 m² for one person and the LOFT with 50 m² for two people. The two units can also be combined across floors to create maisonette apartments and shared apartments. The wooden construction enables a direct load transfer on the outer walls and thus allows maximum flexibility in the layout: Both single and multi-room units as well as open-plan offices are possible. Three different installation cores bring additional flexibility and diversity into the basic grid. Inside, the surfaces are left natual and raw, so that the wooden construction can be experienced in the apartments.
